Hello,
Welcome back from the weekend! If you joined us for this past week's lecture, we hope you enjoyed it — thank you for tuning in on Twitch or through the recordings. Here's a look at this week's content and some new announcements.
=====
We're officially beginning our office hours! Each week, there will be two sessions of OH where a staff member will be present to help you with any technical problems or design questions in a smaller. We really hope to see you — this is a great resource to get unique help from someone on staff. Anybody can come to office hours, even if you're an auditor. You can stay up to date with the OH info in our #office-hours channel on Slack. Here's the schedule:
Now that we've gotten the hang of basic tools, we'll start learning how to apply them. This lecture starts off by examining a few more key tools for collaboration, then we dive into colors and type. We'll also introduce critiques in this class, which you'll be able to practice in the following lab!
This week's lab is a little different, but it's something we encourage lots of — you'll be diving into critiques. Grab some friends (designers or not!) and get some feedback on your work. The file starts with a smaller icebreaker, then gives you space to do critique on your trading cards from last week.
One critical and powerful tool we'll talk about is styles — ways to keep colors, type, effects, and more consistent across a project, a team, or an organization. In this homework, you'll be breaking down a brand system you like. After, you'll create an infographic based on their styles.
As always, our Slack Community is open — join through this link! If you haven't already, please introduce yourself in our #welcome channel 💛
