Hello,
Welcome to Week 4! Today's newsletter is coming a bit late 😅 so thank you for your patience! I'm very excited for today and this week's content on vectors ✒✒✒
=====
After quite a bit of setup, our YouTube channel is live with all our lecture and lab recordings to date! 🎉🎉🎉 We'll be using YouTube for the remainder of the semester (and if all goes well, for the future too). Lecture recordings will still be up on Twitch for 2 weeks, but then they'll be directly exported to this channel. So now, I finally get to say — don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe B)))
This week's lecture is one of my personal favorite topics: vectors and the pen tool! We'll be learning how to create and modify vector networks, demystify masks and boolean operations, and discuss how user research and testing are important parts of the design process.
While pretty straightforward, tracing is an excellent way to get the feeling of the vector tool in your fingers. In this homework, grab a screenshot of your favorite Messenger Sticker and recreate it! It might seem tricky at first, but you'll get the hang of curves and lines as you practice.
If you don't typically do labs before homeworks, this week's lab is a good one to try that on. The lab goes over a quick intro worksheet on the pen tool (like the selection one from week 1) to help you get a feel for how it works. Then, trace some fruit for a tasty salad :9
As always, our Slack Community is open — join through this link! If you haven't already, please introduce yourself in our #welcome channel 💛
