Hello,

Welcome to week 8! This is the second week of our 'advanced' content, and we'll be diving back into prototyping. Incorporating interaction is a key part of UI/UX design (and, more generally, of understanding how your work actually works).

Interactive Components!

Big news today — Figma has just launched another feature! Interactive components were previously in beta, but they're now live to everyone. This functionality will seriously streamline work by allowing variants to have prototyped functionality. Think of a button that has a standard, hover, and clicked state — you can make every button component have all those states with interactive components and never have to re-prototype that interaction (with every button on every screen). Check it out!

Lecture 8 — Advanced Prototyping

Remember prototyping from week 5? We'll be learning more about how to make smooth, custom animations that do precisely what you need them to do. Beyond the basics, we'll dive back into smart animate and learn how to better control your noodles.

Homework 8 — Smart Animate Pokedex

In this homework, you'll explore the world of Pokemon to get comfortable with different prototyping triggers, actions, and animations. Decide how to make a connection based on clear descriptions, and learn how to move from text and ideas to interactions and movement.

Lab 8 — Smart Home Prototyping

You get the gist of this week — practice smart animate and make decisions in creating prototypes by adding interactions to a smart home application!
